Over centuries of the Jedi Order, it has undergone many changes and evolutions. One of the biggest events in their history was the fall of the Jedi Order. However some could argue with just a couple of small changes, this could have been prevented. The exploration of new characters added to the story is one of the many small changes you can make to change the course of history.
In this story, we explore the concept of Mind Healers and their benefits of their practices among the Jedi Order, namely with Anakin Skywalker who was at the core of the fall of the Jedi Order. We also explore the flaws of the Jedi Order as the their fall was not entirely Anakin Skywalkers fault but it was a culmination of events over time based on the media we have access to in order to make our own conclusions. The exploration of fiction allows us to explore every possibility aside from canon. In this section, we explore the story of one Mind Healer by the name of Xai'lar Lacherre.
Biography
Early Life
Xai'lar Lacherre was born to the Lacherre family of Naboo. Soon after, they were approached by two Jedi Masters, detecting Xai'lar's presence in the Force. The Lacherre family allowed the Jedi to take Xai'lar to Coruscant to be raised as a Jedi at the young age of 6 months old.
From there, Xai'lar (also known as Xai or Cherre). was raised in the Jedi Temple. In their early years, they were raised in the (Name) Clan, alongside (Name). They began their initiate trainings at the age of three. From there they ascended to the rank of Padawan under the training of one Vokara Che, Head Healer of the Jedi Order. They formally trained in the Healing Arts but was also trained in lightsaber combat using basic forms and techniques.
In their younger years, Xai'lar was among those who struggled with forming connections with their peers, mainly due to their appearance. Red was viewed as a Sith color and the other padawans didn't care to make a distinction as the older Jedi did. This among their more progressive views set them aside many times which eventually led to frustration among them and their fellow padawans.
As they grew older, they began learning Vapaad from one Master Windu, as a way to counter their increasing acts of rebellion against the Council and a way for them to channel their frustration. It was during this time, Xai'lar began learning another form of the Healing Arts, Mind Healing. The Jedi Council saw this as a waste and there was no need for a Mind Healer in the Temple. Vokara Che stood by her padawan and encouraged the education. Xai'lar from there, became a fully trained Mind Healer, using their abilities to connect with their patients.
Xai'lar soon left the order, around the age of 15 standard years, before they could be Knighted, citing the Council lacked empathy and stating that will be their downfall.
Leaving the Order
Soon after Xai'lar left the Order, they first visited Naboo, in hopes of finding their family. With the help from Queen Padmé Amidala, they found their birth family in the political sector. Their parents worked with refugee relief efforts for the Outer Rim in the public eye. Behind the scenes, they helped freed slaves gain new identities and find jobs. They joined their work, offering mental health resources to anyone who needed them. They trained other healers in the art of Mind Healing and on the side, trained freed people how to defend themselves.
They stayed on Naboo for another 3 years, ending up stuck on the planet during the blockade with the Trade Federation. They kept themselves out of sight once Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and Padawan Kenobi arrived on the planet, not wanting to cause more conflict. After the planet was liberated, Xai'lar took their leave once more. They made their way along the Outer Rim, freeing slaves and helping wherever they could. They spent time on Tatooine, Ryloth, Nal Hutta, even venturing into Wild Space occasionally.
It was their journey through Wild Space that they received a significant injury from a chase gone wrong. They, along others escaping from a slavers' ring, were shot down over Naboo. They returned home for a brief time, recovering from their injuries. They didn't reach a bacta tank in time, resulting in heavy scars on their body.
Over the next 10 years, they spent time honing their skills but never staying in one place for too long. They finally made their way back to the Core planet, Coruscant, once the Clone Wars began.
Return to Coruscant
Xai'lar made their way back to Coruscant, however they didn't seek out the Jedi Temple or anyone from that part of their life. Instead they remained in the underworld of Coruscant, seeking the company of likeminded people and offering their aid to those who couldn't afford proper healing centers. They also assisted in smuggling people through the underworld, mainly recently freed slaves and those running from something or someone. They then slowly made their way closer to the upper levels, never venturing further than Uscru District. Their efforts as an unidentified Force user and Healer in the district eventually caught the attention of the Senate and subsequentially, the Jedi Council. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and Knight Anakin Skywalker were dispatched to investigate and see what their true intentions were.
Current
Personality
Xai'lar maintains a lighthearted and carefree appearance in their current time. As a padawan, they carried a lot of rage and was very sullen, mainly due to external circumstances.
When with their Master and friends, they are very open and talkative. They much prefer their company and often seeks out specific people. They tend to be a bit crude as well, almost childish in their humor. However they also have a bit of a deadpan humor which they doesn't understand how it's funny to other people but as long as they are having a good time, they don't mind.
Among strangers, they are silent and observant, preferring to watch and gauge the situation. A skill that came in handy when traveling alone. During their time alone, they defaulted to this personality and it took them a long time to shake it off once they were reunited with their loved ones.
Appearance
Xai'lar is a red Twi'lek with brown eyes. They have a distinct scar on their head, mainly covered by their head wrapping as well as an additional scar crossing over their left eye. Additionally, they have scars along their side stemming from the same incident where they received their head scars. They are very short in stature, a sore point for them.
During Xai'lar' time on Naboo, they began to experiment with their appearance, eventually settling on a traditional lipstick look and the occasional jewelry adornments. They kept up with these over the years, keeping it as a part of them. Their clothing style soon adapted to Coruscant undercity nightlife styles once they arrived. They eventually settled on a carefree and comfortable style in loose clothing with many accessories. They also developed a fondness for nail varnish however, they did not do it often.
In the Jedi Temple, before and after their leave, they preferred to wander barefoot as to feel the floor beneath them. There were places they did keep their shoes on, hating the texture of the flooring in those areas or those areas requiring footwear. Once they returned to the Temple later in life, they kept the style they developed during their time in the undercity.
Relationships
Vokara Che
Xai'lar was chosen by Vokara Che as a youngling to be her Padawan. Vokara had developed a fondness for the fellow Twi’lek and did not want that potential to be wasted or falling into the wrong hands. Xai'lar formed a strong bond with Master Che soon after being chosen.
Mace Windu
Xai'lar and Master Mace Windu developed a rapport when Mace offered to teach Xai'lar the basic forms for Vapaad, hoping it would calm the rising anger they held towards the Council.
Padmé Amidala
Xai'lar met the then Queen of Naboo, Padmé Amidala, when they arrived to the planet in search of their birth family. She felt a closeness with the young twi'lek and the two remained good friends for the years to come. Xai'lar remained in contact with the senator during their time on Coruscant.
Obi-Wan Kenobi
As a youngling, many were allowed to watch padawans train with their masters. Xai'lar found themselves drawn to Padawan Kenobi. Obi-Wan and his Master, Qui-Gon Jinn, were welcoming to the youngling despite their appearance. Xai'lar maintained a close bond with them up until their departure from the Order. Xai'lar attended the funeral of Qui-Gon Jinn after the battle with Darth Maul but did not make themselves known to Kenobi or any other Jedi attending, paying their respects in silence.
Anakin Skywalker
Xai'lar came to know Anakin Skywalker through Obi-Wan Kenobi upon their return to Coruscant and the Jedi Temple. Xai'lar managed to encourage Skywalker to join them for a few sessions in Mind Healing as they could see the boy was very troubled. Mind Healing was fairly common practice in some parts of the Outer Rim which made it easier for Anakin to become accustomed to.
Abilities
Xai'lar is gifted with a milder form of Psychometry, dubbed Limited Psychometry. Instead of touching objects and perceiving memories, such as Quinlan Vos, their ability allows them to touch people and be able to feel their emotions at the given time. The range is limited though as they can't gauge past emotions or the memories associated with the emotions. When speaking with their patients and with prior consent, they can help them put a name to current emotions they are feeling when working through traumas.
As a padawan, they along with their Master and the few friends they had, liked to joke that they had another ability; Empathy. Xai'lar felt others emotions very strongly, even when not touching them. They were essentially, an empath. One theory was this was a side effect of their Limited Psychometry, seeing as how it allowed them to feel emotions, it would make them actuallyfeelthose emotions themselves.
